MLA News (International List Updates) - June 2004

In this issue:

Direct Market into China

MLA offers a solution for direct marketing into and within China working with reliable local partners.

Since listowners in China are unwilling to release lists locally, MLA offers laser addressing and lettershopping in Hong Kong for materials printed in China and shipped to Hong Kong. Listowners who supply lists data to Hong Kong are provided security under Hong Kong law. Mail is then picked up from Hong Kong and dropped locally in leading China city post offices at local rates.

Payment in local currency can be collected on behalf of international clients.

Large local language response files in China are now brokered by MLA.

Direct Market into India

India is probably the largest English language speaking market in the world. International lists with Indian addresses can be rented through MLA, and local addresses can be rented either through MLA or directly through MLA – India MLA@MLA-india.com.

All credit cardholders in India (around 20 million) can use their card to purchase direct mail offers in US dollars or sterling. Indian subscribers to international magazines have already demonstrated their ability to pay by credit card or foreign currency bank draft.

Initial tests are advised by mailing through Hong Kong or Singapore to the Indian addresses on international lists and to those lists Indian listowners are willing to release to approved lettershops in Hong Kong or Singapore.

Lower DM Postal Costs

Through its contacts with reliable private and public postal operators in Asia, MLA can negotiate the lowest postal rates within Asia and from Asia to the world.

Mail can also be reliably direct entered into overseas markets outside the UPU terminal dues system.

Low postal rates can be obtained in Asia for mailings into the US market.

Year 2004 Holidays: Update your mailing calendar

Street Festival The worst time to mail in any region or country is when consumers or businessmen are celebrating a holiday, event or festival and are either away from home or preoccupied for a period of a week or more.

If your mail is delivered at the beginning of such a period, you will find this hurts response, unless your quantities are small and very targeted. You can expect a fall of up to 35% in expected response rates when your mail is delivered at the wrong time.
