In a report issued by the DMA a few years ago over three-fourths of the membership of the list council of the DMA provided data on the proportion of total company income represented by list rental income. It is likely that the proportion is now greater as each year more mailers place their names on the list rental market. It was revealed that about 4%-6% of total company income for Catalog houses, Businesses, Industrial mailers, Financial mailers, Publishers and Fundraisers comes from list rental income. In other words between half and one-third of net profit comes from list rental all by itself.
